Recommendations

Delivering meaningful professional development for councillors can often be challenging. Varying levels of interest, experience, comprehension and perceived relevance all need to be carefully managed. The competency, credibility and delivery style of the facilitator are critical to capturing attention, encouraging engagement and ensuring participants leave with a genuine understanding of the subject matter.

In Tim Wilson, we are incredibly fortunate to have an exceptionally skilled and accredited facilitator who has truly walked the talk. Having served as a Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillor, Tim brings real-world experience, practical insight and authenticity to every session he delivers. His passion for strengthening local government and supporting elected members has remained unwavering throughout his 15 years of service to the sector.

Latrobe Council

As a former Federal MP for Braddon (1998-2004; 2007-2013) and past Chair of the Cradle Coast Authority (2017-2025), I have had the great pleasure of working with and for our regional Cradle Coast councils and in doing so I have worked with Tim Wilson across a number of years and various roles. Tim’s positive record in local government between 2007 and 2022 and his significant contribution to his community and region are second to none. I remember his contributions to Cradle Coast Authority matters were always positive, highly informed and professional, and he demonstrated leadership across a broad range of issues, challenges, and opportunities.

Tim is a very well-respected member of our region. He is highly articulate, always well prepared, is able to synthesise issues and arguments, and can present material in a calm, succinct and clear manner. I know his passion for local government and making our region an even better place in which to live, work, invest, recreate and learn is important in his life and he knows only too well the importance of encouraging and educating right-minded people to put their hands up to serve as our local representatives. To do this they need to be well instructed and guided in the important requirements needed to fulfil these significant responsibilities. Tim Wilson would be an excellent person to carry out this role.
